Celebrating the release of High Wheel Records' Welcome to the Future comp is a great lineup of locals. We're fans of headliners Airiel, who specialize in lush shoegaze. Arks use heavy bass lines with ethereal, howling vocals for their own brand of abstract rock, and the female-fronted post-punks of Walking Bicycles have just self-released Disconnected, their first LP (see Thu. 13 for their release party). Come early for the mostly instrumental troublemakers in Rhineland Bastards, who combine the jet-engine roar of My Bloody Valentine with the sweaty video projection-assisted freak-outs of the Butthole Surfers.
